We are excited to announce the launch of two innovative projects designed to inspire creativity and hands-on learning in classrooms: Tech-A-Sketch (grades 3-5) and TinkRsynth (grades 6-8). These new offerings provide students with unique opportunities to explore the intersections of technology, art, and music while developing essential STEAM skills.
Tech-A-Sketch for grades 3-5 is an innovative project that enables students to transform their drawings into interactive, digital creations. By combining coding and design, students can bring their artistic visions to life, learning valuable STEAM concepts along the way.
“Tech-a-Sketch is more than just a drawing tool; it’s an educational experience that teaches students how to code and understand robotics while expressing their creativity,” said TinkRworks CEO, Dr. Chad Stevens. “This project fosters an understanding of engineering and design principles in a fun, engaging way.”
The project comes with a comprehensive set of materials and lesson plans, making it easy for educators to integrate into the school day or afterschool STEM enrichment. Students will not only learn how to program and customize their digital drawing projects but also gain insights into the technology and programming that drive these creations.
TinkRsynth for grades 6-8 allows students to delve into the world of digital music by building their own synthesizer. This project combines electronics, coding, and music production, offering students a hands-on approach to learning about sound waves, frequencies, and the science behind music.
“TinkRsynth is a perfect blend of art and science,” explained Stevens. “It provides students with the tools to create their own music while learning about the technology that makes it possible. It’s an opportunity for students to explore the creative and technical aspects of music in a way that’s both educational and entertaining.”
TinkRsynth is designed to encourage collaboration among students, allowing them to experiment with different sounds, work together to create music, and even form their own ensembles. The project includes all necessary components, detailed instructions, and lesson plans, ensuring that it can be easily adopted in classrooms.
The introduction of Tech-a-Sketch and TinkRsynth reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing STEAM education through innovative, hands-on projects. These new offerings are designed to help students see the connections between different STEAM disciplines and understand that creativity and technology are deeply intertwined.
“TinkRworks projects are all about making STEAM learning accessible, engaging, and fun,” said Stevens. “With Tech-A-Sketch and TinkRsynth, we’re giving educators the tools they need to inspire the next generation of innovators and creators.”
The “A” in STEAM plays an integral role in TinkRworks projects. Our diverse STEAM education catalog allows students to engage in the engineering design process as they assemble, wire, decorate, and code across various subjects—including plant science, digital music, art, robotics, and more.
