At St. Michael School in Orland Park, Illinois, education is seen as a continuous process of growth and challenge. As part of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools, this Catholic elementary school is committed to providing students with a comprehensive educational experience. When Principal Paul Smith set out to launch a STEM program for the school, he spent over a year researching the best solutions for their students. After visiting schools across the country, he found the ideal partner right in his own backyard: TinkRworks.
Cross-Curricular Connections
TinkRworks’ STEAM curriculum integrates seamlessly into St. Michael School, enabling collaboration across subjects like science, math, art, and music. “TinkRworks is extremely robust, and it’s flexible too, which made the integration into our curriculum very seamless,” said Smith.
Preparing Future-Ready Learners
TinkRworks’ STEAM projects build resilience, problem-solving skills, and social competencies. “When they’re working on a project, they see that they may not always be successful, so they say, ‘How do we bounce back? How can we think in a different way to solve this problem? Let’s keep going!’” says Smith. Students also develop essential skills like giving and receiving feedback, gaining confidence to innovate and collaborate.
